<div class="separator" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/64/Tuesdays_with_Morrie_book_cover.jpg/180px-Tuesdays_with_Morrie_book_cover.jpg" /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<em>The book I am going to talk about today is not some ordinary book for me. It is special because it was gifted to me by one of the compassionate friends and a beautiful human being - <strong>Riddhi Naik.</strong></em></div>
<strong><em></em></strong><br />
<br />
<strong><em></em></strong><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When I first saw the book, I could not make out what the book was about. <strong>Tuesdays with Morrie </strong>- All I could make out was that, the book was about some person named Morrie. I felt it to be just another delightful book. But I was partially wrong. The book is not just another book.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you go to some book shop, you may find this book in the "self help" section. But in my opinion this isn't a typical self help book which talks about getting rich and being successful. It is about living life.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This book is about the Tuesdays that Mitch Albom, the author of the book spent with an old man named Morrie, a patient of ALS and his teacher in college days. Morrie knew he was going to die and wanted to make best out of the time he has. One of the finest lines in the book is</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Once you know how to die, you know how to live.</div>
</blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mitch asks question to his beloved teacher about various aspects of life like money, family, relations etc. Morrie gives his answers. His answers count more than any of us because he knows he is to die. So his perspective of life is drastically different from what we see. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Unique part of this book is the way it is presented. It is presented as a curriculum of life. And each aspect as a lesson. Mitch talks about class of life where there were no grades and only oral exams where one was expected to ask question to teacher.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This book is must read for those who feel that they have too many troubles in life. If you are one of those who gets affected emotionally every now and then, this book has something for you. In fact this book has message from everyone of us and everyone of us can relate themselves to this book.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But if you are one of those who just don't care about anything, who believe that life is a game and we should play it without bothering about relations and values, you may find this book "philosophical". It takes a thoughtful mind to really appreciate what the book is trying to convey. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Social networks are ubiquitous. They have established its presence in every nook and corner of lives, including the time we spend in bathrooms (thanks to those small boxes called mobile/tablets). People have become comfortable sharing personal matters on social networks. While being extrovert helps in knowing more people, make contacts, earn reputation etc. there are things you need to look out at.<br />
<br />
I personally use two social networks Facebook and Google+. I am planning to start using LinkedIn to make some professional contacts and twitter to find people who share similar hobbies as mine.<br />
<br />
I use social networks not only to chat or know people but also to understand people. <br />
<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Your social profile reflects you! </blockquote>
Keep above line engraved in your brain. Here I will talk about few things that you should not do and why.<br />
<br />
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
They are social networks, not your personal diary. </h3>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Some guest has come to your home. Do you reveal all the personal matter about you to them? Will you tell them about your row with your spouse or show them your snaps that you took randomly and other trivial stuff? Sensible answer would be no. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
You should not reveal anything more than you would when you see some guest at your home. Social Networks are for socializing. Not plastering everything you have on your mind.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Think before you act.</h3>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Liking, commenting and sharing can destroy your reputation before whole world including your employer, relatives and anyone who is a part of online world in general. Recently, I came across a profile of one of the "intelligent" students. By intelligent, I just mean he scores good marks and does nothing else other than studies. My intention here is not to criticize anyone. If you are scoring good and have a reputation of intelligent student, sensible posts are expected from you. If your entire page is full of links and makes no sense, it will surely tarnish your image. Even if those links are not obnoxious, it still tarnishes your image. Look at the screen shot and you will know what I mean to say.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWFOUj4KGNTvlk_w8IEn_gPU5p_CIYVhyphenhyphen9CIeP4J81REyxOmTJuCaw6WTqsui80pkPhARplEIrUf1z1RljiEuGnV_DrDe_2-BFA_JYRpqGOZ6eZ-Vz9mbrheWcee7u1ZU0iAB0K7tobEON/s1600/Bhavik_idiot_1.PNG" /></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Just imagine if the entire Facebook wall is filled with this kind of random and promotional stuff, how would it look? Imagine that your prospective employer sees your wall, what will he think? To me, such behaviour is irritating and no matter what that person score I assume that he has low IQ. Posting link on Facebook about "buy two get one free" for any random product which is not yours is insane. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
While this is just an example, there can be many other ways in which people behave in more irritating way. For example, posting tangential remarks about something that had happened. Why do you want to put it there?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<h3 class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Likes can be problems</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When you like a page or anything else, you vote for it. You say that you share the similar option as that of original post. Same is the case with sharing something on social network. I have seen people liking the pages like <em>"Dost ko thanks bolta hai"</em> which translates in English as <em>"You say thanks to your friend even!". </em>People (usually teenagers and youth) gets carried away by such lines and like them without looking at what those page are actually about. At times it turns out that these pages share certain things which might not be acceptable socially. This can hamper your image.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I know that one should take a chill pill and don't take social networks very seriously. But everyone won't except your flamboyant behaviour.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<em>How do you use social networks? What is your opinion about it?</em></div>
</div>

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
We all know how fast our life has been. So fast that we can't take a break to ponder about developing a new habit. We are governed by so many external factors, reaching to office on time, coming back home in a gush because some unexpected guest has come up, again going to office if some emergency turns up. Even if we assume that we are not going to have any emergency and reflect over our typical routine that we follow, we may realize that we simply vegetate. We just pass out day without doing anything that is different and new. We find it frightening to learn new language or to develop new habit to go for a walk each morning. Similarly we find it impossible to give up old habits. Like habit of biting nails, it just happens. <br />
<br />
There is a simple formula to change or create new habit. At same this this formula would add some spice to your monotonous life. Well this isn't a formula, its a concept - <strong>30 Days challenge</strong>. I came across this wonderful thing when I was reading <a href="http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/" target="_blank">Matt Cutt's Blog</a>. Matt works with the search quality team at Google.<br />
<br />
Here is the Ted's Video that was recently done, where he talks about 30 days challenge.<br />
<br />
</div>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" mozallowfullscreen="" scrolling="no" src="http://embed.ted.com/talks/matt_cutts_try_something_new_for_30_days.html" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="560"></iframe><br />
<br />
When you will take up something new every 30 days you will get a chance to try your hands on things that interest you. It does not matter if you master it or not. Just do it. If you will enjoy it, you will make it a part of your "routine". Else you will abandon it after 30 days. But you will add new ideas to your mind. <br />
<br />
Two challenges that I took:<br />
<br />
<ol style="text-align: left;">
<li>Read 10 new words for 30 days.</li>
<li>Learn photography for 30 days.</li>
</ol>
I still add new words to my lexion each day. It has become a routine now. Photography is a new hobby. I don't do it everyday but yes I do it everynow and then. Note that I click things just because it pleases me and not because I want to master it. But if I continues to do it for long period, I may get a good grip.<br />
<br />
You can find some ideas for challenge <a href="http://www.my30dc.com/site" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
Tell me which challenges you are going to take up. <br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Internet is no longer a luxury. It has become part of our day to day life. With advent of social networks, it has more or less become our basic need. We almost share everything on internet that we usually used to do verbally with the friends next door only when they meet. Communication has become easy. Staying in touch just demands one smart phone.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This new era of web has given many businesses an access to the target audience. Internet brings the relevant consumers at the doorstep of the business products. But among ethical online business and websites there are tons of touts and cheaters who want to scam you. Touts are there in offline world too. But in case of online sphere, one should be extra careful. It is because they are showing what they want to show. You don't know what is behind the curtains. All the information available is not always true. Some sites are misleading and some are created to make fool out of you. Thanks to social networks, such sites spread too fast. WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) does not apply to internet world. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Recently I got my hands on bunch of resumes of few people whom I know. Under computer skills label, they had written "facebook". I too aback. I asked them how can they write that. I mean, Facebook is not some skill. They said that they know it and so they can write. Well no problem wit that concerning part is the way people think about internet. There are millions of people who use internet. But I think there are very less people who actually know what they are exactly doing on internet. Some people assume that everything on the internet is free. Some people believe that everything on internet is safe. They fundamentally and technically do not understand internet.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h2>
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><u style="font-weight: normal;">Why is it important to understand internet?</u></span></h2>
<div>
<div>
It is so just because you should know what that site is doing. I am not saying that you need to be a pro programmer and understand the code. But one should know certain basic things. For example, emails accounts usually gets compromised using phishing. But if one bother to see the url of the page each time they put in the password, this would not happen. Such small things can protect you from big attacks.</div>
<div>
<br />
Here are the things that you should be aware about so that you can protect yourself from being fooled. </div>
<div>
<br />
<h3>
What you see is NOT always what you get.</h3>
</div>
</div>
<div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Be little more careful when you come across some new site or service. If they are asking for your email Id and other personal details stay away from it unless you are sure it is safe. Get the review from the people who have already used that service.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Scams</h3>
</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We all want to make money and get rich. We all want a cash cow or a duck that lays golden egg. Many are too desperate for this and touts know this pretty well. They know this weakness and they also know how to use it for their advantage. They would throw at you very "cool" offer that you would take up instantly without giving second thought about it being legit. This happens because the way they present their scam and you just start dreaming about being rich, just to get poor.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Identifying the scam</h3>
</div>
</div>
<div>
That is easy. If someone promises something that is too good - it is a scam. Further, accept the fact that there is no easy money. Not online at least.</div>
<div>
<br />
<h3>
Your reputation and social networks.</h3>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Always be careful before you share anything on such networks. Remember that it is going to be seen by all your relatives and friends. If you click something that you don't know and something "dirty" gets shared you will really damage your reputation. I remember, once it happened with one of the person I know,there was a video on Facebook which said "dare to watch this". That person dared and many nasty stuff got shared in his name. So whenever someone encourages you to click on something, refrain from doing that.</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Here is a short video I did few months back for my other blog which explains how spam gets spread in your name.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen" frameborder="0" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xQVGb80cLo0" width="640"></iframe>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
After seeing this video, you would know why you should not follow the instructions blindly without knowing what exactly is happening.</div>
<div>
<br />
<h3>
Downloads and related problems.</h3>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Almost every website is free to access. There are sites that provide quality information for free. But that does not mean that everything on the internet is free. There are many things that gets distributed for free on internet are actually being done illegally. If you are one of those who downloads movies, songs, games and software from internet for "free" you may find yourself in legal trouble. Because such things are not free, they are illegal distributed and you are part of that illegal and unethical acts.</div>
</div>
<div>
<br />
Such downloads may also infect your computer and can lead to leakage of some personal information from your computer. So never do it.</div>
<div>
<br />
<h3>
Getting known to strangers</h3>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When you are online you may come across many people from around the globe. Most of them are good people and some are APPARENTLY good people. Be careful from latter ones. So before you share any personal detail with people online take sometime to know them. Who they are? What do they do? I do talk to many people whom I have never seen. But I am sure that they are not malicious. Never be friends to random people. Avoid using "chat with strangers" site. Even if you use it, never share any detail about yourself with them. Not even you name.</div>
</div>
<div>
<br />
<h3>
Mind your language</h3>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You do have a right to give voice to your thoughts. But some people may not like what you have say. They may sue you, harass you or sometimes even worse. Especially if you are hurting religious sentiments or doing any personal attack or if you are defaming some venerated personality, you can be in hot waters. If you are ready to face the consequences, move on. But know the depth of water first.</div>
</div>
<div>
<br />
Recently two girls were arrested just because they updated their Facebook status which some people did not like. You may find the story here.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Health related sites can make you go to hospital</h3>
</div>
<div>
Always be careful with sites that give tips about your health. If you are not sure about the authority and qualification of the site owner, don't follow what it says. That advise can harm your health. There are so many weight loss site mushrooming out there. But all are not worth following. I personally believe that one should always consult doctor if needed rather than using internet.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Whenever you are using internet, don't be over casual. Be alert. You never know where the trap is and when you may fall in it.</div>
</div>
<div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Recently I had been on the tour to Kashmir. We were three families (11 members). We chose Ajay Modi's touring service so that life can be easy there. I stay at Ahmedabad, Gujarat,India. But officially our tour was supposed to start from Delhi. We reached to Delhi on 11th November 2012. Next day morning we were supposed to fly to Srinagar. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Before I share details about the specific areas of tour I would give out the over all feeling of the tour. It was poor to moderate. Tour arrangement was far from what I had expected.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
No matter where we plan to go, there are certain areas which one would expect to be satisfactory. Here I discuss my experience with Ajay Modi Yatra services.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: justify;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVF5nw-fskvNU2kkUk2XIj4O-jrZXFgX9vFuS5XHzU7Yqk8cnEFX4PvK2yFPsryuU6PiqzVpXfc_3jcpEOfrtCGToAVuUKuqXuyPLSWsCkE7Pg-9gTfPtSFARc7tfA-BmAphf630t7UBt1/s1600/DSCN1648.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVF5nw-fskvNU2kkUk2XIj4O-jrZXFgX9vFuS5XHzU7Yqk8cnEFX4PvK2yFPsryuU6PiqzVpXfc_3jcpEOfrtCGToAVuUKuqXuyPLSWsCkE7Pg-9gTfPtSFARc7tfA-BmAphf630t7UBt1/s320/DSCN1648.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Place where breakfast was being prepared.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<span style="text-align: justify;">Overall quality of food was not so good. There are reasons why I am saying this. I am Gujarati and I eat Gujarati food everyday. When I go for the tour to Kashmir I do expect to have the Kashmiri delicacies. I understand that most of the Kasmiri food is non veg but still they can serve us with some sensible variety. It can be okay if they serve Gujju stuff once in a while but all seven days is heights. I was shocked to see Fafda-Jalebi and Sev khamani there in Kashmir. Just to tell you that I had an ice cold fafda. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It seems they are focusing on quantity rather than quality. There were always myriad of items to eat, all being gujju. I would rather prefer to have 1 quality Aloo Paratha. I still remember the taste of those parathas that I had on the way to Srinagar Airport. That is what I call the quality food.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Only good item was Khakra with ghee and tea/coffee. They provided us with both the beverages. Further, we requested them to serve us with <b>tea</b> at 7 : 30 am when we get up. They said that we can have it at 9 am with breakfast and not before. So we had to shell around 1200/- just for tea. Usually people need tea when they get up. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Food was flooded with oil. It was so oily that I felt little nauseated. Hygiene of food was also questionable At Dal Lake house boat, when we entered the dining area, we were "welcomed" with garbage can full of used dishes and left over food. It was smelling. Dining area had no chairs. We had to stand and eat. Dishes were wet and unclean. Spoons dishes had traces of oil. I think they should have some proper dining hall where one can sit and eat. If you feel that my expectation were too much, I just need to remind you that we had paid for the service and they promised us that I will have excellent experience.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We had the food served by them for 2 days. Later, we shelled out money to get some good food. So we had to spent additional amount which we could have saved, had they provided quality food.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
Hotels and related amenities</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I would rate it as moderate. We stayed at house boat for 2 days. There was biting cold. Well this was expected. But we did expect them to serve us with heater. The house boat curator said flat no when we asked for it. Next one day we stayed at Hotel Zabarvan. It was an excellent one with good service. We purchased the food from there rather than going to Ajay Modi Rasoi. The service that Zabarvan people provided is the kind of service that I expect in the food area. Just to give you some idea about Zabarvan, service was similar to any quality restaurant like Havmor.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We also had stay at Phalgam at hotel Natraj. We had to stay in cottage there. Again a good place to stay . Experience was good. We were served with heater at Zarbarvan and Natraj. So stay at these places were comfortable and cozy. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
Timings</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When we are on vacation we do expect to have some relaxation in timings. They were literally ordering us to reach at specific time. How could they?! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
Overall behavior and hospitality </h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I would rate it below poor. They were pathetic in this area. People were rude. I will share one experience with you here. When I and my sister was having dinner on the first day, their manager asked me the name of my house boat. It was "Firdosh". I could not recall this name and took a moment to answer. Manager sarcastically commented "<i>Some people even forget the name of their house boats!</i>". </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Later the owner of house boat (who seem to have some arrangement with Ajay tours) requested us in <i>ordering</i> tone that we should chose to go on shikara ride with them rather than going with some other people.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I think they need to train their people to be polite and calm. They need to understand that "customer is king"</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
Guidance</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There was no guidance from their part. They gave the vehicle with driver. Driver was good nature person. But we can't use that vehicle all the time. We had to hire taxis from certain spots because of the union problems. I cannot blame tour service for this. But at least they could give proper instructions to us and driver. They should have given us a guide to assist us or a map with details about where to go.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When we were about to leave for Gulmarg from Srinagar, their manager told us to go to Bakshistand. Obviously we expected the driver to know that place. But driver was not even aware about that place. He dropped us at some other taxi stand. The manager gave us directions to go further from Bakshistand. So we were helpless. Manager also told that he would not respond to us once we reach at Bakshistand as he would be in trouble because of horse service union. So we were literally harassed my horse union members. They misbehaved and misguided us.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
Nexus</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There seems to be a nexus between people there. I do have my own doubts about the integrity of the people who work there for Ajay Modi's service. For example, arrangement between houseboat manager and owner. I do understand that such arrangement are necessary but it should be the advantage of tourist and not for the advantage of hotel owners.<br />
<br />
Before you go for Ajay tours do consider my opinion seriously. I don't say its bad. I did have a good time but it did not meet my very basic expectations which any hospitality business should provide. In short, they will make all the booking and travel arrangement for you but if you are looking for quality, you may want to choose some other service.</div>

<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Don't be too honest. Straight trees are cut first and honest people are victimized first.</span></blockquote>
<div style="text-align: right;">
- Chanakya niti </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We all know the "importance" of being good human being. In fact we all have our own opinions about it. There are people who simply want to be good just because they should. There are who are genuinely good (like my friend about who I may talk in few of the upcoming posts) and few are like me who really don't feel that it is a compulsion to be good and respond depending upon the situation.</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you belong to the last category, you probably won't find anything new in this article. But if you belong to first or second one, you ought to read it.</div>
<br />
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Being good is not a generalized idea.</h3>
<div>
At times whenever we discuss about someone (let us take me as an example), usually there are different opinions. While some may say that I am good, some may have the exact opposite opinion. This depends on their experience with me. Their experience again depends on their first impression and prejudices that I may have. So in general terms I am not so good. And am I bad? Nope!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Who that person is?</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This again extends the above point. But at times there is really a deeper bias. There are people with whom you always be good no matter how much they hurt you. This relation is good. But can lead to frustration. So you may need to help your self with some bad moods gulping down the bitter things. But always keep some hope that you will always be valued. I can't ask you to change in this case because as far as I understand, it is really too difficult, if not impossible.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
Taken for granted</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you feel that you are being taken for granted, it is an alarm that you need to talk. All it needs is just phone call to let them know how pathetic you are feeling. Don't expect sorry. It can create ego troubles. Remember you just need their little time. You are calling them to reach to them, not to go away from them.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
Being good is not being foolish</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Usually person will realize your worth at some or the other time. But there are people who are "Oh! So selfish" that they never really care about all this. They are self centered and egomaniacs. Trying to win them or be good to them is even worse than being foolish. Don't be so gullible. Think over this.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
You are good then you deserve good.</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I know that this is a mad and bad world but still if you are good you deserve some value. After all it is incredibly difficult to find genuinely good person.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Trust but not so much...</h3>
<div>
When you trust someone you are actually putting a rope round your neck and you believe that person will not pull the other end. But what if they pull it, even by mistake? Don't put around your neck tightly that you suffocate and quit.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Stress and boredom are two different things altogether. But sometime we tend to stay confused if we are stressed or bored. This usually happens when we don't know what exactly want to do. We all plan our things. But it may be the case that when we are planning; we are full of energy. So we decide to do lots of things. But then we end up doing nothing. <span style="text-align: left;">Actually when we start </span><span style="text-align: left;">following</span><span style="text-align: left;"> that plan, we start losing energy. </span>So one should plan wisely keeping in mind the capabilities of oneself.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here are few things that I do when I am simple bogged up with "checkmated" mind:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<ol>
<li>Watch Baby’s day out.</li>
<li>Spend some time with toddler or new born baby</li>
<li>Spend some time with aged people.</li>
<li>Watch birds and observe their behavior : For example how pigeon keeps on moving their heads and the mayna stands on one leg.</li>
<li>Listen to the music.</li>
<li>Meditate.</li>
<li>Take a ride on your bike.</li>
<li>Take a ride on your bicycle rather.</li>
<li>Slow down. It is life, not a race</li>
<li>Have a stroll.</li>
<li>Talk to someone with whom you have not talked for a while.</li>
<li>Read Quotes. Only good ones.</li>
<li>Put your cell away.</li>
<li>Click some snaps.</li>
<li>Do some gardening.</li>
<li>Walk bear footed on the green grass.</li>
<li>Write a blog post about how you are feeling.</li>
</ol>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="kix-paragraphrenderer" style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.727272033691406px; position: relative; text-align: start;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Google - an uncrowned king in the web arena has been growing so rapidly. Google is not only a search, its more than a search. Time is gone when people used Google just to find information. Today we use Google to find information, services, locations, video, audio and much more. This does not end here. Google has provided us with myriad of other free services. YouTube and Google Drive are just two prominent examples. Look at the top black bar of your Google account and you should know what really Google is. The blog you are just reading is hosted on blogger - yet another service by Google.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It has always been a matter of great debate if Google is a monopoly? I can't say YES. There are options available for every service that Google provides. But Google definitely has an edge over others. Core reason for this the popularity and "easy to manage" characteristic, bringing all the best services under one account i.e your Google account. So Google has virtually monopolized the market space.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Online earning is in vogue these days. All of us want to make a buck while we sleep (this is a myth, it never happens). So what these online "businesses" do? They set up a web site. Either they want to earn out of ads or they just sell their products. Whatever may be the case, they want traffic. They want people to see their website at least.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you are a publisher and want to earn from advertisement, you would want to get free traffic. So you will push hard to get a share of traffic from Google search. Your entire business rely on Google. It just takes Matt Cutts (a man who leads the Google webspam team) to tweak their search algorithm a bit to obliterate the entire business. While they look for the quality of site, but still you rely on them. What if Google search vanishes someday?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
What next? Most sites are monetized with Google ads. Again these sites rely on Google as their revenue stream. If you are wanting to sell some product, you may use Adwords - again a Google service. Lastly, huge web sites like KhanAcademy.org use uses YouTube to host their videos. Even I use YouTube to host videos. What will eventually happen? What if YouTube decides to shut down? Game over na?!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This should not happen. It is a high time that one should start branding their sites. One should be able to survive without Google. I don't say that one should not use Google. But you should be able to do without them if needed. So just a contingency plan should be active at the back end.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I recently have seen that Motivational speakers have mushroomed all over. They deal with different subjects. Some give you the secret of success, some teach you how to be happy and many other stuff. I recently attended sessions from two "well known" speakers about whom I never knew.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
One was Positive RishiKumar who works with Yuva- I am UNSTOPPABLE and other was WAKE UP TO DREAM. In past year or so, I have read several motivating books from well know authors. Some of them worked for me, while few were simply trash.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
One thing I observed about these motivational speakers is the way that wash your brains. They literally try to program you just like some software engineering writing the code for how a robot would work. In one of the session, I was introduced to the concept of life tree. According to them, life tree will be a representation of how I want my life to grow. Good idea! I was impressed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Later, they said that we are not supposed to get distracted by any external entity. This is where I lose all the faith in motivational speaker. We are human beings. We are full of life. We have emotions. We can get frustrated, we can be happy. We can feel anything. And all exteral factors should affect us. Why should we stop feeling the joy or sorrow? They are the integral part of our life. In fact that is what we call living life.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Success is necessary but is it all one wants? Think about it. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Let me ask you something. What do you want in life? Just write your answer on the piece of paper. Now read ahead.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Success is something that you will never have. Success is the process and not a state. Today, founders of biggest companies like Reliance or Google still work hard to grow. Why? Don't they have enough money? They probably own the finest car, luxurious villas and what all not! They also have many problems that they basically can't enjoy this luxuries.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Remember your ultimate aim is to be happy. Robotic life will never make you happy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
What is the most important thing for you to do right now? You all know the answer to this question for yourself ...right? At least you have some faint idea. No matter how much carefree (or careless?) you might be, you always have some vague idea about what is "ideally" important for you.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For vast majority of human beings, idea about importance and priority is literally skewed. I am no exception. Things that currently matter should never have mattered to us. At least not so much as it currently matters. Things that should matter never bothers us at all. We know this fact and still we don't improve.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Few things that should have mattered to me is my performance at CAT, my manual completion work at college, my contribution to National Social Service, my sleep, my health, my relations and social life in real. None of these really mattered. Honestly I have no idea how am I going to finish all the pending work I currently have.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Few things that should never have mattered to be but still did...someone telling me that I can't crack CAT, someone telling me that I am irritating, discussion and arguments with people who simply can't get my point, those sugar coated people who are all set to curse me behind my back... Facebook notifications from person whom I don't even know very well. These people and related things should never have got my attention. But still it did. Why? Just because I could not nail down what is really important to me AT RIGHT time.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That is where the key to the lock lies. You know what is important but you simply get carried away when you should have focused. Once your focus shifts to unwanted thing, you think about them only. Believe me, focusing on wrong things can be as harmful as focusing on right things is useful.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Have you see a spot light? Imagine a stage performance. Now if that spot light in focused somewhere else other than a performer how would be the performance No matter how well the performer performs all will be useless. That is where focus comes into play. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is a time to ponder a bit. Take a pause. Switch off your cell. Take a paper and note down what is really important to you...who is important to you and why. "Why" part is not always important but still ask yourself anyway. Make multiple copies of your final list. Stick it at different places so that you can remember what really matters to you. For initial days it can be bit difficult. This phase is the shift of the focus. But stay with the list with tenacity and your focus will on the right lines.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Take sometime to share your experience with us.</div>

<b><span style="font-family: inherit;">Why we need to get relaxed?</span></b></h3>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"> </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">At times we are so bogged up. The situation is just like a choked up
drainage system. You can’t focus. You can’t concentrate. You want to do too
many things. But you end up doing nothing or at least nothing properly. You
find everything boring! If this happens to you, you are stressed.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">There are many simple ways that can help you feel better.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">

can choose the length of your session. It can be 2 minutes or 10 minutes. You
can also choose if you want the guidance or not. I would recommend that you
enable guidance for your first session. Later, you can disable it.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Let me just ask you some questions and you would be answering to no
one but yourself. If you are a parent or a teacher, you should ask these

<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: #b45f06;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Questions:</span></span></b></h3>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0.5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -0.25in;">
<!--[if !supportLists]--><span style="font-family: inherit;">1.

<div class="MsoTitle" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><a href="" name="h.kehy5h121aqi"></a>If your answer is YES to one of the questions you
suffer from Mathematical
Anxiety (MA).<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: #b45f06;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">What is Mathematical
Anxiety?</span></span></b></h3>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Simply put, it is
the lack of confidence. We really don’t need to know the psychological nitty
gritty on this subject. Mathematical Anxiety can be defined as the feeling of
tension and stress which inhibits or interferes with the ability to calculate,
comprehend, understand and solve mathematical entities. Sometimes student tends
to go BLANK. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: #b45f06;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">What are the reasons for Mathematical Anxiety?</span></span></b></h3>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">There can be many
of them. Fear of failure, fear of public embarrassment, fear of being punished,
weak concepts and some bad experience with maths exam. Sometimes there is no
particular reason behind that.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">If I ask you - “<i>Why
is one afraid to speak on stage</i>?” or <i>“Why one fears darkness?”</i>. No
precise reason. MA can be just like that. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: #b45f06;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">How to overcome Mathematical Anxiety?</span></span></b></h3>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">To overcome MA,
one needs to score well in Maths and to score well in Maths, one has to
overcome MA. It is vice versa. It sounds difficult. But it is not that
difficult to overcome MA. This calls for a tenacious attitude.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Everything stems
in the feeling. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0.5in; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 0.5in; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #434343; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">“</span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are

</span></span></span></blockquote>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;">So first thing :</span></h3>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h4 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #b45f06;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Believe that you can do it</span></span></h4>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"> </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">50% of problem is
over once you start believing that you can do. Rest 25% will be over when you
do it once. Last 25% demands bit of hard work that is worth doing. After you
finish a chapter or a sum, you should have positive feeling - “I know it!”.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"> <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: #434343;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Second thing:</span></span></b></h3>
<h4 style="text-align: justify;">
<b style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span style="color: #b45f06;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Do lots of timed practice test before you appear
for test</span></span></b></h4>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">If you score well
in practice test, you will definitely see that you won’t be afraid of Maths as
you were. With each good performance, your performance will shoot up
exponentially. So when you will appear for the paper, it would be an usual
activity.</span></div>

Let us first know some bare facts about child :<br />
<div>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li>Babies brains "empty".</li>
<li>Babies are too curious.</li>
<li>Babies are far more persistent than grown ups.</li>
<li>Babies don't take things for granted.</li>
</ul>
This facts itself are powerful tools for us and opens a gateway to the new process of learning which I call "baby's way". Have you ever though why babies behave the way they do? While they behave in their own specific way but I guess the prime reason is that they want to learn.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So let us see what we should learn from them: </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Focus</h3>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>Babies brains are empty</i> : When their brain is empty they really don't have any kind of distractions. They can focus on one particular thing completely. They give their 100% to want they are doing. While we keep on thinking about <i>many other things while working of many other thing. </i>This reduces our efficiency drastically.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Don't take things for granted </h3>
<div>
Babies have tremendous urge to know and learn. They don't take things from granted. Have not you observed they way they learn new words? They speak that word, then speak it again and keep on speaking it even at those places where word is completely irrelevant. At that point relevance is not important. They just want to learn it by hook or crook. We don't do that. We don't bother to apply too much brain and give up.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Their level of curiosity is so high that they break open many toys just to know what lies within. Even engineering students like me are not much interested in doing that.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Persistence</h3>
<div>
This goes inline with the above point. They are persistent. They keep on doing things till they get it. They try to move, then crawl, then try to stand and then fall. Even if they are hurt, they try to do it till they are up and running. We abandon things that we find difficult.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
There can be many other things that we can learn from a child but this are the ones I could actually trace. If you have any further ideas, leave a comment and I would be glad to put my ideas on that.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>

Deal with it.<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<span style="text-align: justify;">In today's era of cut throat competition, failing in 10th standard seems like "</span><i style="text-align: justify;">the end</i><span style="text-align: justify;">" of the carrier. Just to remind that it is just a beginning of your carrier. 10th std is the minimum requirement for doing any damn thing. So if one has failed in 10th standard, the first thought that swirls through that person's mind is somewhat like this:</span><br />
<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: center;">
<i>I failed in 10th! How will I earn? What is my future?</i><br />
<a name='more'></a></blockquote>
</blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you are a guy, you may even start worrying about your marriage, that no father would give you his daughter to you.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Problem about failing is10th is not limited to carrier. In many of the cases, it literally shatters the person confidence. Relatives and all sometimes add to the misery by taunting and pinching. You feel embarrassed to see your old friends just because they came out with flying colors in their 10th standard exams. Now problem has grown in the mind of the student, a psychological one.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here I have listed out what should you do to get rid of this "dirty" feeling.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Stop thinking about what others think</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
What others think is not something you should be worried about. People need stuff to talk. Few will advice you, few will be happy about your condition, few will console you, few will make fun of you and these things keep going for few days and then everyone but you will forget about YOU. So don't get stressed about thinking what others are thinking. It is a real waste of time and energy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
One more try</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I strongly recommend that you should again work hard with determination. Stay positive and give one more try. But this decision is really critical one. It is a matter of one full year. So if you don't feel like doing, just don't. But if I had been at your place, I would definitely give one more try. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Having passed the 10th standard enables you to have some kind of carrier options that you can think about. If you don't pass the10th options still remain but you can't get the degree. You have to do some certificate courses and develop your skill in some particular field. So you are the best judge. You know your abilities and what you really want to do.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, its fine if you don't want to try again and go for some other options.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Accept it</h3>
<div>
Sometimes its really difficult to accept that you have failed. Your mind knows but your heart is not ready to accept it. Make peace between your heart and mind. Still there is lot you can do and you will do. It is just a small part of big game.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Be the way you were</h3>
<div>
This one is really difficult. but still do it. Just behave the way you used to. If someone tries to talk about your "failure", talk about it just like you would talk about any other thing. If you will be comfortable with yourself, people would also realize that you are bold enough. But remember never show "I don't care" attitude. You do care and you have accepted it. Tell others about your future plans and they would probably keep mum. Most of the time, they are not trying to taunt you but help you. But at such stage, mind always catches the negative frequency and takes the wrong meanings.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
Ask yourself - "What I want to do?"</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Next thing is to think about what you really want to do. Not passing 10th does not mean that you can't do anything. It just means that you can't get the professional degree and will have to struggle a bit and gain some experience in some area of work. If you are interested in computers you may learn some sort of web design and work with some professional. If you know how to cook, you may join some great cooking class where you can learn and reach the zenith of your cooking artistry. There are myriad of options. Think and choose some. <i>Remember: </i><span style="color: #cc0000;">What ever you choose, you will have to work damn hard to get through.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Once you know what you really want to do, you won't be "blank" about your future. You will see yourself some where and that is what will help you to start working again with full gusto.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: left;">Believe in yourself</span></h3>
<div>
I can understand that failure of any kind is a big blow to ones confidence. But remember that you could not pass just because main stream education was not for you. Once you know what you want to do, you will see some light in darkness. Belief would be the important driving force that would help you to start and move one!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<i>If you are reading this post because you have been through this, I wish you Good luck for your future. If you are reading this for someone who is your relative, I thank you.</i></div>
<div>
<i><br /></i></div>
<div>
<i>If you are one of those you has failed in any of the class and want to share your experience about it, Please contact me here. You would be the inspiration for many of the people.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Learning is usually a long term process. But what I want to discuss in this post is about exam oriented learning. This is bit different. You have some days left and few books to mug up. This is how it is..Right? Situation is worst when you are in the institute that follows semester system. Engineering students must have realized this. You have around 20 days and you have some 10 books to finish. In such stressful condition, what should be done?<br />
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So let us see some ways that might help you abate you misery.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Prepare in advance</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Calm down! I don't mean to say that you will have to finish the whole syllabus before the D day. But if you are clear with some initial chapters that can help you pass the exam, you would be fine. At least you won't have to be worried about how to pass in the paper!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Read fast</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If chapters are theoretical, read them rapidly to get the brief idea about the content. But don't go so fast that you can't comprehend what you are reading. Just read to understand and not to remember. Remembering task can be done later.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Don't sit to make notes</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
While notes are incredibly useful but if only if you start preparing them 6 months in advance. In 20 days this task would just do more harm than good. Instead one more good reading would be beneficial.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Find the buddy teacher</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If subject involves some mathematical calculations or concepts go to your geek friend and ask him to explain you. <a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_listening" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Active listening">Active listening</a> really helps you to learn well. 50% of your work would be over at this stage.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Become a buddy teacher</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Learn some subject and teach someone else. If you don't have anyone to teach, pretend that you are teaching someone. So speak and scribble. Don't write everything but draw diagrams and few key points that can help you remember the stuff.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Analyze what you don't remember</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After you have finished with say 5 chapters or so, revise them and see what is there that you are finding difficult to remember. Teach that topic to someone. Note those questions on piece of paper and keep that paper with you all day. Keep reading and revising as frequently.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>If you have any tips to share, please put it in the comment area. </i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Okay! So I will hit directly to the point. Almost all of us have faced this question at some point of time while we prepare for exams - "<i>How can I prepare this subject easily?". </i>We try to frame out our own strategy for that particular subject and we are successful sometimes. This is the positive part of the story. But later we try to apply that same method to all other subjects and we mess up. This is what I experience almost every time but I never gave much thought to it. But this time I just spend some time pondering over this and realized that we need to chalk out different method for each subject.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<h3>
Why do you need different method for different subjects?</h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Let me give you one example. I had a subject called "Internal Combustion Engines" in my 6th semester of Mechanical Engineering. Though this subject did have calculations and sums but it had theory also. I started with it and kept mugging hard and felt lost after few days. I was sure that I was doing literal "labor work" that was far unnecessary. There was no particular method that I was following. I was reading and repeating like a parrot. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Later I realized that revision is important when you have to remember something. So I started jotting down the questions that I made myself in my notebook. I simply used to see those questions and try to answer them in mind. If I was successful, I used to get confident that I know it! It I can't answer, I would know where I lack. And this process was far more faster rather than revising using text book.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Later I tried to do this with "kinematics of Machines" which involves lots of formula and relations. This method did not work there and I stuck up. In this case I actually needed to calculate the sums. This is how it is! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Different subjects...Different methods!<br />
<br />
<h3>
How to chalk out the right method?</h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;">I cant answer this one for you. You will have to mull over this and see what you find difficult. But to get some idea, ask yourself:</span></div>
<div>
<ol style="text-align: left;">
<li>What is the purpose of subject?</li>
<li>Is it theoretical or applied?</li>
<li>Do you like it?</li>
<li>If you don't like it...why?</li>
<li>What can you do to make it more interesting? For Maths and Science I take the responsibility to make it interesting for you.</li>
</ol>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
In my previous article <a href="http://mindtomint.blogspot.in/search?updated-max=2012-03-24T09:18:00-07:00&max-results=1" target="_blank">Making Maths easy</a> I emphasized on two things, <i>approach</i> and <i>belief</i>. In this post we will talk about the way you should start off your journey towards improvement in Mathematics - the right approach. But before that just blindly accept that you are intelligent. I am saying this because I know that person who is reading this right now (YOU) has the immense ability within. So just believe yourself and read ahead.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mathematics has variety of streams like Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry. While arithmetic is usually found easy by most the the students because it deals with some simple calculations, Algebra and Geometry are said to be "difficult". </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Before we dive in to these streams of Mathematics we better let us take some brief idea about what they exactly mean.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Arithmetic</h3>
<div>
<a href="http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/arithmetic?show=0&t=1335016374" target="_blank">Merriam-Webster</a> defines Arithmetic in following way:</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: -webkit-auto;"> </span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">a branch of mathematics that deals usually with the nonnegative real numbers including sometimes the transfinite cardinals and with the application of the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to them</span></blockquote>
Don't worry about meaning of transfinite cardinals. Even if you don't know what it means you can do very well at maths.<br />
<b><br /></b><br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="background-color: white;"><i><b>Rule of thumb:</b> Never worry about the jargon in maths. They wont hinder you while you calculate sums. Further, most of them are really simple.</i></span></blockquote>
<span style="background-color: #cccccc;"><br /></span><br />
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;">Algebra</span></h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Algebra involves many variables like x,y and z, so student gets confused about it. The only question that keeps biting them "<i>Why the hell do we need to use alphabets instead of numbers?</i>" Question is quite valid and I will answer it in some other post. But the answer about use of alphabets lies in the definition of algebra.</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">a generalization of arithmetic in which letters representing numbers are combined according to the rules of arithmetic</span></blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So Algebra is "arithmetic is generalized form." Problem is the way it looks on the printed page. It looks awfully confusing at a first glance but if you take a moment to peek into it all the confusion will melt away for sure.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Geometry</h3>
<div>
Definition goes like this :</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: -webkit-auto;"> a branch of mathematics that deals with the measurement, properties, and relationships of points, lines, angles, surfaces, and solids; </span><em style="background-color: white; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">broadly</em><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: -webkit-auto;"> </span><strong style="background-color: white; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">:</strong><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20px; text-align: -webkit-auto;"> the study of properties of given elements that remain invariant under specified transformations</span></blockquote>
Basically, geometry is about representing the algebraic quantities in the pictorial form. While this might not be always so true but they are quite related.<br />
<br />
Whatever definitions that I gave just above are not meant for remembering by heart. But if you read it once, you would know at least what you are going to start off with. <br />
<div>
<br />
Now once you are aware of what they mean and what they deal with, you better gauge yourself about what you <i>feel</i> about them. Open your text book and see which topics do you find difficult. Classify them and put them under one of the following categories. You will see the clear picture where you lack and that is where one should start!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
"No student is weaker at maths!" - This is my stand about Mathematics and will remain like this forever, irrespective of what others say. If student is able to understand the basic mathematical operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, they can understand any damn concept of mathematics. I am confident about this because Mathematics can't be difficult. It always have some reason and logic and any human brain can understand. So why is it that some students are labeled as "weak" at mathematics? Here I have listed some of the reasons:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Ignorance by parents and teachers.</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In the early stage of development, both teachers and parents play vital role in the modelling the child's brain. Maths cannot be learned in one day. Remember - "Rome was not built in a day". It takes time. Maths is like a staircase. You have to go up step by step. If you try to skip a step, you will fall on your face. This is something that actually happens. When child is is primary school, teacher and parents think that it is fine if student does not study hard. They will work well in boards and score well. This can never happen. Once student fails or scores poor in boards he/she is tagged "weak". <i>Who is responsible here?</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Note : I do not mean that students should be pressurized with too much of work load. But one has to make optimal use of the student's mental faculties.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Comparison with other students.</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Each student has some talent. One who is too bright at Maths may not be that good at other subjects and vice verse. This ability can be god-gifted or may be the result of early modelling. Each student grows up in different environment. We all are from different family backgrounds. In such circumstances, comparing your child with someone else child is not at all fair. When you give example of some other child to your child, it develops an inferiority complex killing all the self confidence of your child. Once confidence blows up, it is really difficult to get back.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: left;">Preconceived</span> notions</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I did a small survey. I asked 100 random students about rating the maths as easy, moderate and difficult. Result was quite surprising. 83/100 student admitted that they find it difficult. I asked them the reason too and most of them said that "they cannot understand". This line is inscribed on their brains by elders always stressing hard about "Maths being difficult." This gives negative signal to child about maths. Simple motivation can do wonders. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
The way Maths is taught...</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Maths is taught as a subject with too many conventional methods and formulas that look "random" and "garbage" to students. That is because...they are taught how to calculate sum using formulas. Fundamentals go ignored most of the times. Fundamentals are like enlightenment. When you understand the fundamentals, you start feeling maths and then the interest develops.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Fear of making mistakes and scoldings</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mistake is something that is wrong. Yes this is right. But when you go wrong, you try to look for the right path. Mistakes helped me a lot to learn and even when I am studying engineering, I learn many things from mistakes. Make you child laugh at his/her mistake. Rather then scolding him, make him feel comfortable so that he can admit his mistake. This is the duty of the teacher to see that student can speak up. Don't admonish students for some small mistakes. They discourage them! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<br />
Know more about Albert Einstein <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Einstein" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
Even such a genius mind had doubts in mathematics. So having doubts and difficulties does not mean that you are weak at mathematics.<br />
<br />
According to my experience, Maths is the easiest subject that I have ever known! So was it always that easy for me? No...<br />
<br />
There are only two kinds of people on this planet : those who find maths easy and other ones who find it difficult. Where is the catch? What makes this two species so different? Answer lies in the approach and belief.<br />
<br />
You may find other subjects like history, social sciences etc easier as compared to maths. Reason is fairly simple. Those subjects are just about absorbing the information in its raw form. You just have to mug up things and vomit it out on your answer sheets. Maths is different. Maths, if done with a proper approach, is the easiest. It can be explained and understood in extremely logical manner. Maths is not a subject to study, it is the part of everyday life.<br />
<br />
Usually students find it difficult because their approach is wrong. They try to mug up maths. That is impossible. Some expect themselves to learn it in one go. This may happen to some of them while others may need to give a second try or may be even third. There is no harm in trying.<br />
<br />
Things you should do to overcome your fear of maths and improve over it:<br />
<br />
<h3>
Keep Questioning </h3>
When you stop putting your questions to others, you just close all the doors of knowledge. Answer cannot exist without question. Don't worry about what others would think. If you have a doubt feel free to ask to your teachers. If you wish you may share your doubts with me and I will try my best to solve them.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Keep trying </h3>
You may not get the concept in one go. That is fine. Usually all those students who are good at maths do not get it in one try. They just KEEP TRYING.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Take a break</h3>
Sometimes we get too much confused and our brain is saturated with maths. We feel hopeless and stuck up for all the time. This is the time to take a break. When we get stuck up, we can't find where are we going wrong. This is what my experience says. We keep looking for correct answer and all we get is yet another wrong answer. Just put you books and pens a side. Read some light book or watch some good movie. Once you are fresh, give it another try. This type you may get it. Still not successful? Just ask someone. (me?)<br />
<br />
<h3>
Don't mug up </h3>
Maths is not about how well you can remember. Its about how well you can analyze, solve and evaluate the data given to you. It is logical. You will need to develop your brain in that sense.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Learning is long term process</h3>
Learning is a long term process. In fact its unending process. The more you question yourself and others, more are the chances for you to learn. Don't expect yourself to become successful overnight.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Solve puzzles</h3>
Maths is all about ability to deal with some complex stuff. We need to simply it. Usually people who can solve some puzzles are quite good at maths.<br />
<br />
<br />
<i>You can always ask your doubts to me. I will try and solve them and in bargain I too will learn something. I will upload all the solutions to your doubts on my YouTube channel.</i></div>
