How to kill boredom and stress - guide for the bogged up mind.

Stress and boredom are two different things altogether. But sometime we tend to stay confused if we are stressed or bored. This usually happens when we don't know what exactly want to do. We all plan our things. But it may be the case that when we are planning; we are full of energy. So we decide to do lots of things. But then we end up doing nothing. Actually when we start following that plan, we start losing energy. So one should plan wisely keeping in mind the capabilities of oneself.

Here are few things that I do when I am simple bogged up with "checkmated" mind:
  1. Watch Baby’s day out.
  2. Spend some time with toddler or new born baby
  3. Spend some time with aged people.
  4. Watch birds and observe their behavior : For example how pigeon keeps on moving their heads and the mayna stands on one leg.
  5. Listen to the music.
  6. Meditate.
  7. Take a ride on your bike.
  8. Take a ride on your bicycle rather.
  9. Slow down. It is life, not a race
  10. Have a stroll.
  11. Talk to someone with whom you have not talked for a while.
  12. Read Quotes. Only good ones.
  13. Put your cell away.
  14. Click some snaps.
  15. Do some gardening.
  16. Walk bear footed on the green grass.
  17. Write a blog post about how you are feeling.

Make your business immune to Google

Google - an uncrowned king in the web arena has been growing so rapidly. Google is not only a search, its more than a search. Time is gone when people used Google just to find information. Today we use Google to find information, services, locations, video, audio and much more. This does not end here. Google has provided us with myriad of other free services. YouTube and Google Drive are just two prominent examples. Look at the top black bar of your Google account and you should know what really Google is. The blog you are just reading is hosted on blogger - yet another service by Google.

It has always been a matter of great debate if Google is a monopoly? I can't say YES. There are options available for every service that Google provides. But Google definitely has an edge over others. Core reason for this the popularity and "easy to manage" characteristic, bringing all the best services under one account i.e your Google account. So Google has virtually monopolized the market space.

Online earning is in vogue these days. All of us want to make a buck while we sleep (this is a myth, it never happens). So what these online "businesses" do? They set up a web site. Either they want to earn out of ads or they just sell their products. Whatever may be the case, they want traffic. They want people to see their website at least.

If you are a publisher and want to earn from advertisement, you would want to get free traffic. So you will push hard to get a share of traffic from Google search. Your entire business rely on Google. It just takes Matt Cutts (a man who leads the Google webspam team) to tweak their search algorithm a bit to obliterate the entire business. While they look for the quality of site, but still you rely on them. What if Google search vanishes someday?

What next? Most sites are monetized with Google ads. Again these sites rely on Google as their revenue stream. If you are wanting to sell some product, you may use Adwords - again a Google service. Lastly, huge web sites like KhanAcademy.org use uses YouTube to host their videos. Even I use YouTube to host videos. What will eventually happen? What if YouTube decides to shut down? Game over na?!

This should not happen. It is a high time that one should start branding their sites. One should be able to survive without Google. I don't say that one should not use Google. But you should be able to do without them if needed. So just a contingency plan should be active at the back end.

Beware of "non sense" motivational speakers.

I recently have seen that Motivational speakers have mushroomed all over. They deal with different subjects. Some give you the secret of success, some teach you how to be happy and many other stuff. I recently attended sessions from two "well known" speakers about whom I never knew.

One was Positive RishiKumar who works with Yuva- I am UNSTOPPABLE and other was WAKE UP TO DREAM. In past year or so, I have read several motivating books from well know authors. Some of them worked for me, while few were simply trash.

One thing I observed about these motivational speakers is the way that wash your brains. They literally try to program you just like some software engineering writing the code for how a robot would work. In one of the session, I was introduced to the concept of life tree. According to them, life tree will be a representation of how I want my life to grow. Good idea! I was impressed.

Later, they said that we are not supposed to get distracted by any external entity. This is where I lose all the faith in motivational speaker. We are human beings. We are full of life. We have emotions. We can get frustrated, we can be happy. We can feel anything. And all exteral factors should affect us. Why should we stop feeling the joy or sorrow? They are the integral part of our life. In fact that is what we call living life.

Success is necessary but is it all one wants? Think about it.

Let me ask you something. What do you want in life? Just write your answer on the piece of paper. Now read ahead.

Success is something that you will never have. Success is the process and not a state. Today, founders of biggest companies like Reliance or Google still work hard to grow. Why? Don't they have enough money? They probably own the finest car, luxurious villas and what all not! They also have many problems that they basically can't enjoy this luxuries.

Remember your ultimate aim is to be happy. Robotic life will never make you happy.

Things that matter, Things that should matter

What is the most important thing for you to do right now? You all know the answer to this question for yourself ...right? At least you have some faint idea. No matter how much carefree (or careless?) you might be, you always have some vague idea about what is "ideally" important for you.

For vast majority of human beings, idea about importance and priority is literally skewed. I am no exception. Things that currently matter should never have mattered to us. At least not so much as it currently matters. Things that should matter never bothers us at all. We know this fact and still we don't improve.

Few things that should have mattered to me is my performance at CAT, my manual completion work at college, my contribution to National Social Service, my sleep, my health, my relations and social life in real. None of these really mattered. Honestly I have no idea how am I going to finish all the pending work I currently have.

Few things that should never have mattered to be but still did...someone telling me that I can't crack CAT, someone telling me that I am irritating, discussion and arguments with people who simply can't get my point, those sugar coated people who are all set to curse me behind my back... Facebook notifications from person whom I don't even know very well. These people and related things should never have got my attention. But still it did. Why? Just because I could not nail down what is really important to me AT RIGHT time.

That is where the key to the lock lies. You know what is important but you simply get carried away when you should have focused. Once your focus shifts to unwanted thing, you think about them only. Believe me, focusing on wrong things can be as harmful as focusing on right things is useful.

Have you see a spot light? Imagine a stage performance. Now if that spot light in focused somewhere else other than a performer how would be the performance  No matter how well the performer performs all will be useless. That is where focus comes into play.

It is a time to ponder a bit. Take a pause. Switch off your cell. Take a paper and note down what is really important to you...who is important to you and why. "Why" part is not always important but still ask yourself anyway. Make multiple copies of your final list. Stick it at different places so that you can remember what really matters to you. For initial days it can be bit difficult. This phase is the shift of the focus. But stay with the list with tenacity and your focus will on the right lines.

Take sometime to share your experience with us.

Sites that can help you get relaxed

The era in which we are living is too advanced. Yes, it is so advanced that one finds these advancements more stressful rather than useful. Basically the problem is not with the advancements but with us and the way we have been using them.

Why we need to get relaxed?

At times we are so bogged up. The situation is just like a choked up drainage system. You can’t focus. You can’t concentrate. You want to do too many things. But you end up doing nothing or at least nothing properly. You find everything boring! If this happens to you, you are stressed.

There are many simple ways that can help you feel better.

Today, I would specifically share with you two of the sites that helps you to get over the frustration.

This site has some small videos with melodious background music. You can choose the length of your session. It can be 2 minutes or 10 minutes. You can also choose if you want the guidance or not. I would recommend that you enable guidance for your first session. Later, you can disable it.

This site also has a small relaxation session. This site helps you to realize what is important and what is not. Just see and follow the simple instructions ever.

Things you MUST do to enjoy to fullest
        Put your mobile phones away.
Ask everyone to leave you alone for a while.
Throw all your thoughts out of your mind.
Sit in the most comfortable position as instructed during session at calm.com
