How to learn more in less time?

Learning is usually a long term process. But what I want to discuss in this post is about exam oriented learning. This is bit different. You have some days left and few books to mug up. This is how it is..Right? Situation is worst when you are in the institute that follows semester system. Engineering students must have realized this. You have around 20 days and you have some 10 books to finish. In such stressful condition, what should be done?
So let us see some ways that might help you abate you misery.

Prepare in advance

Calm down! I don't mean to say that you will have to finish the whole syllabus before the D day. But if you are clear with some initial chapters that can help you pass the exam, you would be fine. At least you won't have to be worried about how to pass in the paper!

Read fast

If chapters are theoretical, read them rapidly to get the brief idea about the content. But don't go so fast that you can't comprehend what you are reading. Just read to understand and not to remember. Remembering task can be done later.

Don't sit to make notes

While notes are incredibly useful but if only if you start preparing them 6 months in advance. In 20 days this task would just do more harm than good. Instead one more good reading would be beneficial.

Find the buddy teacher

If subject involves some mathematical calculations or concepts go to your geek friend and ask him to explain you. Active listening really helps you to learn well. 50% of your work would be over at this stage.

Become a buddy teacher

Learn some subject and teach someone else. If you don't have anyone to teach,  pretend that you are teaching someone. So speak and scribble. Don't write everything but draw diagrams and few key points that can help you remember the stuff.

Analyze what you don't remember

After you have finished with say 5 chapters or so, revise them and see what is there that you are finding difficult to remember. Teach that topic to someone. Note those questions on piece of paper and keep that paper with you all day. Keep reading and revising as frequently.
